About our Physical Therapist

My name is Jessica Futch, PT, DPT. I am a pelvic floor physical therapist in Rincon, GA. I decided to start Awaken Pelvic Physical Therapy to pursue my dream of collaborating with individuals in all walks of life to optimize their health and wellness. During my path to this career, I noticed a large misunderstanding of what the pelvic floor is, how it functions and what can be done to improve it. It is my goal to help educate and reduce these misconceptions and to create a care system that is proactive and preventative, rather than reactive and palliative. I look forward to this future journey and the many relationships it will build.

Well, it’s not cool. It’s actually quite embarrassing and just because it’s common does not mean it’s normal. Over the past few years I have struggled with exercise induced incontinence and the only solutions my OB/GYN would offer me was medication or surgery. Thanks to my friend Dr. Jess I knew that pelvic floor therapy was the route I wanted to take.

Over the past few weeks, Awaken Pelvic Physical Therapy has prescribed mindful breathing and active stretching exercises along with reprogramming my bathroom schedule that have completely stopped any more incidents and improved my overall performance and movement patterns.

Today I graduated from what I’ve dubbed “potty training” but will continue monthly maintenance to keep my body operating properly. I can not thank Jess enough for sharing her knowledge and helping me heal”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How should I prepare for my first visit?
    • For your first visit please bring a copy of your referral, complete your intake forms 24 hours prior, and wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
  • Will I have an internal examination on my first visit?
    • Not always, the need for an internal exam is going to depend on your symptom presentation and external examination.
  • Is an internal exam required?
    • No, there is a lot of information we can gather from an external exam. An internal exam is often beneficial but is never required. If an internal exam is recommended, we will discuss the benefits and you will be provided with all of the information to make an informed decision.
  • How many sessions will I need?
    • Every plan of care is developed based on the individual, their needs, and response to PT interventions. Therefore, the number of sessions will vary person to person based on the examination and findings.
